Doing business in Frankfurt
Choosing a Frankfurt address? Understand the banking-district towers you can book, the city’s business landscape and which authorities handle your registrations.
Choosing your address in the Bankenviertel
Olea’s live Frankfurt addresses sit in Bahnhofsviertel, Frankfurt-Altstadt and Innenstadt, all in or immediately beside the Bankenviertel. Each one creates a different impression.
- Neue Mainzer Straße is in the WINX Tower, in the riverside MainTor quarter. It is the lowest-priced Frankfurt option and gives a business a recognisable financial-district position close to the Main and the city centre.
- Taunustor is in the TaunusTurm, beside the Taunusanlage park and the Innenstadt. It suits businesses looking for a prominent tower address close to the Alte Oper and the core office market.
- Taunusanlage is in the Marienturm on the western edge of the banking district, within easy reach of Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof. It is the highest-priced current option and offers a premium setting for client-facing businesses.
The choice is therefore less about widely separated districts than about the exact tower, its position, transport, budget and the signal you want to send a client. The core virtual office service is the same at every address.
Weighing up the rest of the city? Westend, Ostend and Sachsenhausen are established Frankfurt business areas, but Olea has no address in any of them today, so none of them is bookable here.
Frankfurt’s business environment
Frankfurt am Main is Germany’s principal financial centre. The European Central Bank, Deutsche Bundesbank, Frankfurt Stock Exchange and a large banking community anchor an ecosystem of law firms, accountants, consultancies, insurers and asset managers.
The city’s business base extends well beyond finance. Messe Frankfurt and the Rhein-Main region support international trade, industry and logistics, while DE-CIX and the surrounding data-centre market make Frankfurt important to digital infrastructure and technology businesses.
Frankfurt Airport and Hauptbahnhof provide strong international and national connections. That makes a Frankfurt base useful for companies whose teams or clients are spread across Germany and Europe, even when most of the work happens elsewhere.
Registering a company in Frankfurt
- Handelsregister: the Amtsgericht Frankfurt am Main acts as Registergericht for companies seated in the city, so every Frankfurt GmbH and UG is entered there. You will need a notary, and we provide the consent-to-use documentation they require.
- Gewerbeanmeldung: Frankfurt registers trades through a single citywide office, the Ordnungsamt – Gewerberegister, under § 14 GewO. The authority decides the filing and may ask for supporting evidence, and other permanent operating sites may need registering separately.
- Finanzamt: Frankfurt has several tax offices. Which one is competent, and whether there is a Betriebsstätte or an Ort der Geschäftsleitung, depends on the facts of the business. Tax registration is generally completed through ELSTER.
- Freiberufler: genuine liberal professions generally notify the Finanzamt directly rather than filing a Gewerbeanmeldung.
Whichever applies, the address has to be one where you can genuinely be reached and documents can be served on you, not a Postfach or a forwarding service. Olea addresses are staffed offices that take in your post.
Olea provides the business address and supporting address documentation. The customer, notary, authority or adviser remains responsible for the relevant filing and decision.
Frequently asked questions
The best choice depends on the building, the impression the address creates, transport, mail handling and workspace. Olea offers 3 live Frankfurt locations from €199/month, in and immediately beside the Bankenviertel: the WINX Tower on Neue Mainzer Straße, the TaunusTurm at Taunustor and the Marienturm on Taunusanlage. Every location provides the same core virtual office service, so compare the exact address and what it says about your business rather than price alone.
Monthly prices currently run from €199 to €269 depending on the address. Annual billing reduces the monthly equivalent by 15%, giving a current range of €169 to €229. There is no setup fee or deposit. Optional mail services, workspace and usage-based extras may cost more.
Olea currently has Taunusanlage in Bahnhofsviertel, Neue Mainzer Straße in Frankfurt-Altstadt and Taunustor in Innenstadt, all in or immediately beside the Bankenviertel. The live map and list show the exact address, current price and available mail options for each. Frankfurt (Oder) is a different city in Brandenburg and is not included.
Yes. A GmbH or UG must provide a domestic business address under § 8 Abs. 4 GmbHG. You can use an Olea Frankfurt address as that inländische Geschäftsanschrift. The Amtsgericht Frankfurt am Main keeps the Handelsregister for companies seated in the city, and we provide the consent-to-use documentation your notary needs. The notary remains responsible for certifying and filing the registration.
You can use it as a genuine business or administrative address for a Gewerbeanmeldung under § 14 GewO. Frankfurt registers trades through a single citywide office, the Ordnungsamt – Gewerberegister, rather than through borough offices. The authority decides the filing and may ask for ID, company documents, permits or evidence of address use, while other permanent sites such as a shop, warehouse or workshop may need to be registered separately.
Yes. You can use the address as your Geschäftsanschrift for Finanzamt registration and correspondence and as the serviceable address in a commercial website’s Impressum under § 5 DDG. Frankfurt has several tax offices and the competent one depends on the facts of the business. The address does not by itself establish a tax Betriebsstätte or place of management.
Every Frankfurt location includes unlimited receipt of business letters and a digital mailbox with 5 scans per month. Taunusanlage, Neue Mainzer Straße and Taunustor also offer pickup and monthly, weekly or daily forwarding, so the mail option is a choice at every address rather than a reason to pick one.
Workspace is available at participating Frankfurt locations. Depending on the office, customers can book meeting rooms, coworking desks or private offices. Workspace is not unlimited free use within the virtual office subscription and is booked and paid for separately.
You can choose and buy the address online in a few minutes, and the compliance form usually takes 10–15 minutes to complete. Straightforward applications are normally reviewed the same day, although additional information may be required and some applications can take up to two business days. You can begin using the address once approved.
