Doing business in Berlin
Choosing a Berlin address? Understand the live districts, the city’s business landscape and which authorities handle your registrations.
Choosing between Mitte and Charlottenburg
Olea currently has live Berlin addresses in Mitte and Charlottenburg, each giving a different impression.
- Mitte is the centre of Berlin’s political, cultural and commercial life. The live range covers a neighbourhood office at Zehdenicker Straße, Torstraße’s established creative-business corridor, Leipziger Platz beside Potsdamer Platz and Pariser Platz at the Brandenburg Gate. It gives businesses the broadest choice, from practical value to landmark prestige.
- Charlottenburg represents established West Berlin. The Kurfürstendamm address sits in the UPPER WEST tower near Zoologischer Garten, the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church and Berlin’s traditional shopping and professional-services district. It suits businesses that want an established premium address outside the Mitte startup narrative.
The service itself is the same at every address. Choose according to district, building, mail options, workspace and price.
Weighing up the rest of the city? Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain are Berlin’s creative-and-tech heartland – startups, agencies and media – while Prenzlauer Berg is a polished creative-professional quarter. These are areas we are expanding into, with locations announced but not yet bookable.
Berlin’s business environment
Berlin combines national institutions with a large technology, media, creative and professional-services economy. It is a common entry point for international founders and companies because English is widely used across its startup and technology sectors and the city has direct rail and air links across Germany and Europe.
It is Germany’s capital and largest city, with around 3.8 million residents and an economy that has shifted from its industrial past into services, technology, media and science. Companies including Zalando, Delivery Hero, N26, HelloFresh and SoundCloud were built here, and the city draws a large share of German venture capital along with the accelerators and investors that follow it. Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER), Berlin Hauptbahnhof and one of Europe’s most extensive U- and S-Bahn networks make it straightforward to reach clients across Germany and Europe.
Registering a company in Berlin
- Handelsregister: the Amtsgericht Charlottenburg keeps the commercial register for the whole of Berlin. The chosen Bezirk does not change the Registergericht. You will need a notary, and we provide the consent-to-use documentation they require.
- Gewerbeanmeldung: Berlin has no single central Gewerbeamt. A trade is registered through the Ordnungsamt responsible for the Bezirk where the relevant business address or operating site is located. Requirements can vary and other permanent operating sites may need separate registration.
- Finanzamt: the competent tax office and any Betriebsstätte or Ort der Geschäftsleitung depend on the facts of the business. An Olea address can be used as a Geschäftsanschrift for registration and correspondence but does not establish those tax concepts by itself.
- Freiberufler: genuine liberal professions generally register directly with the Finanzamt rather than filing a Gewerbeanmeldung.
Whichever applies, the address has to be one where you can genuinely be reached and documents can be served on you, not a Postfach or a forwarding service. Olea addresses are staffed offices that take in your post.
Olea provides the business address and supporting address documentation. The customer, notary, authority or adviser remains responsible for the relevant filing and decision.

Frequently asked questions
The best choice depends on the address, district, mail handling and workspace you need. Olea offers 5 live Berlin locations from €69/month, ranging from a creative Mitte office to landmark addresses at Leipziger Platz, Pariser Platz and Kurfürstendamm. Every location provides the same core virtual office service, so compare the location and its available mail options rather than price alone.
Monthly prices currently run from €69 to €219 depending on the address. Annual billing reduces the monthly equivalent by 15%, giving a current range of €59 to €186. There is no setup fee or deposit. Optional mail services, workspace and usage-based extras may cost more.
Olea currently has Pariser Platz, Leipziger Platz, Torstraße 201 and Zehdenicker Straße in Mitte and Kurfürstendamm in Charlottenburg. The live map and list show the exact address, current price and available mail options for each.
Yes. A GmbH or UG must provide a domestic business address under § 8 Abs. 4 GmbHG. You can use an Olea Berlin address as that inländische Geschäftsanschrift. The Amtsgericht Charlottenburg keeps the Handelsregister for the whole city, and we provide the consent-to-use documentation your notary needs. The notary remains responsible for certifying and filing the registration.
You can use it as a genuine business or administrative address for a Gewerbeanmeldung under § 14 GewO. In Berlin, the relevant Ordnungsamt is determined by the Bezirk. The authority decides the filing and may ask for supporting documents, while other permanent sites such as a shop, warehouse or workshop may need to be registered separately.
Yes. You can use the address as your Geschäftsanschrift for Finanzamt registration and correspondence and as the serviceable address in a commercial website’s Impressum under § 5 DDG. The address does not by itself establish a tax Betriebsstätte or place of management.
Every Berlin location includes unlimited receipt of business letters and a digital mailbox with 5 scans per month. Pariser Platz, Leipziger Platz, Torstraße 201 and Kurfürstendamm also offer pickup and forwarding options. Zehdenicker Straße currently provides the Digital Mailbox option only.
Workspace is available at participating Berlin locations. Depending on the office, customers can book meeting rooms, coworking desks or private offices. Workspace is not unlimited free use within the virtual office subscription and is booked and paid for separately.
You can choose and buy the address online in a few minutes, and the compliance form usually takes 10–15 minutes to complete. Straightforward applications are normally reviewed the same day, although additional information may be required and some applications can take up to two business days. You can begin using the address once approved.
